The Creator/Founder of
MY PREGNANT LIFE
I am a Portuguese & French Canadian, born & raised in British Columbia, Canada. I am now a mom of 2 daughters with 1 boy on the way (coming in 2020). I have dedicated most of my life motivating and inspiring others through dance as a dance educator, performer and choreographer.
I have been fortunate enough to share the stage or the screen as a dancer with many celebrities including Britney Spears, Beyonce, Earth Wind & Fire, Beyonce, Carmen Electra, ZZ Top, Luis Miguel, Rain (Bi), Carrie Underwood, MC Hammer to name a few. I have also performed as a dancer on America's Got Talent, Star Trek: Enterprise, Spike TV's Guy's Choice Awards, MAD TV, and was Jennifer Garner's Dance Double on Alias.
Once I became pregnant, my life and career made a huge shift. I took a serious interest in my health, nutrition and exercise while planning for the birth of my babies.
I have danced through 3 pregnancies which has helped me stay in shape, as well helped recover quickly after birth.
I incorporated my dance expertise and a developed a unique dance program, not only for myself, but for other women of all different shapes, sizes and fitness levels. I want to encourage women to feel great, stay healthy, be fit through dance.
LIFE AS A MOM
I am now a mom of 2 daughters and am expecting a baby boy (2020). Pregnancy is one of the most exciting times in a woman's life.
Prenatal Dance has prepared me for healthy pregnancies, wonderful births and quick recoveries.
I am thankful that I've had 2 wonderful homebirths with a midwife. My husband & I used Hypnobirthing as a method to relax and eliminate the pain. The experience was the highest of all highs.
Becoming a new mom has been the most fulfilling roller coaster rides, to say the least. Like all moms, I had to adjust to a new way of life full of poopy diapers, car seats, strollers, diaper bags, baby wipes, nursing covers, breast pumps etc. Life isn't about me anymore. All I want is to care for kids and be the best mom I can be.
BODY AFTER PREGNANCY
I am firm believer that exercise alone is not enough to "bounce back" after pregnancy. Nutrition is another key factor in order for the body to perform at its best and recover. Since pregnancy, I am really cautious of my diet and eat mostly organic nutrient dense whole foods and try to avoid refined flours and sugars. I eat for health, not for weight.
I think it's also important to already be active at the time of conception, stay in shape throughout pregnancy in order to manage weight and prepare the body for birth. Breast feeding was my little secret to shedding the baby weight after pregnancy.
Even though I danced until a week before I gave birth, I took some time off after to be with my baby, bond as a family and recover. I fit in a size 4 dress 10 days after birth without any exercise. Once I got the approval from my midwife, I started teaching dance again in order to tone my body and get my pregnancy body back. Ironically I am leaner now than I have ever been. I owe it to dance, nutrition and breast feeding.
Since I breastfeed, I do not drink alcohol, I do not take pharmaceutical drugs (not even a simple Tylenol), I eat an organic diet, and I feel better now than I have ever been in my life. I have also overcome most of my allergies through my holistic way of life.
I do not have a nanny, I do not have maid, I do not have a nutritionist that prepares my meals, I do not have a personal trainer and did not have plastic surgery (ie. tummy tuck) to achieve my results. I am just a working mom trying to live a healthy life and hope to inspire other moms to do the same.
